Kim has been on a virtual book tour with Pump Up Your Book Promotion in July and is here with us today to give her impression of virtual book tours and online book marketing.
Thank you for this interview, Kim. Can we start out by having you tell us briefly what your new book is about?
Thank you for having me today! I wrote about a man with struggles. Benton Jessup wants his bed and breakfast to be successful. He will go to any lengths to ensure that it does.
When Kitty Beebe, a famous romance author, arrives at The Inn, his desire for success becomes a struggle of wills with love. Can you think of anything more romantic than a broken man with a purpose?
More and more authors are realizing the potential for sales that derives from virtual book tours. Can you tell us your personal reasons why you chose a virtual book tour to help get the word out about your new book?
I have gone on virtual tour before and find that it is just a great way to make friends and influence people to read your book. Especially when it is an ebook like mine. There is no way I could reach the number of potential readers by going physically about town to bookstores that I can by doing it virtually. In fact, there is no way I could travel as extensively as it would take to reach one third of the potential readers that I can reach through a VBT.
Is this the first time you have heard of them?
No. I traveled virtually with my first book, and to be quite honest, until my book comes out in paper form, there is just no better advertisement or promotional method for me. Or for anyone else for that matter.
What do you hope to achieve through promoting your book through a virtual book tour?
I hope to get more people to investigate my work by going out and finding it at the publisher’s site. I love making friends and have made many on the VBT route.
Do you promote online through other means? Website? Blog?
Oh yes, I have many places. I don’t think that an author today can NOT have a website, blog, and be a part of the social networks out there. It would be marketing suicide to miss any opportunity.
Do you promote through Twitter and Facebook? What are your links there?
What are your experiences with offline booksignings? Which do you prefer – online or offline and can you give us the reasons why?
I have not had the great privilege of doing a booksigning yet but plan some in the near future. I have given several online workshops however and find those to be tremendous fun!
Here’s a fun question. If money was no object, how would you promote your book?
I would travel everywhere all over the world and promote and then come back home and call Dorothy at Pump Up Your Book Promotions to do a VBT for me for three months out of the year.
Thank you for this interview, Kim. Do you have any final words?
I just think Pump Up Your Book Promotions people are the finest on the Internet and do not mind promoting them as my publicity company. I hope others will make plans to contact Dorothy Thompson there at PUYBP and get a VBT today!
